Below is a YouTube playlist of my most recent series Plant Songs:

Videos from the 24 Standards Project:

This is the final arrangement of the 24 Standards project. I arranged, learned, and recorded 24 Standard American Songbook tunes. http://www.24standards.blogspot.com This lovely tune was written by Hoagy Carmichael. I first got to know the song from the recording by vocalist Kurt Elling.
Moon River by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 standards project. I'm slowly doing 24 carefully arranged jazz piano solos. Check out the blog at: http://www.24standards.blogspot.com. Moon River is from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I've always liked the song, but hadn't really learned it until now.
Star Eyes by Gene de Paul and Don Raye Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 Standards Project. I'm slowly doing 24 carefully arranged jazz piano solos. Check out the blog at: http://www.24standards.blogspot.com This is a song that I've played for many years.
This is my arrangement of I Should Care, written by Alex Stordahl, Paul Weston, and Sammy Cahn. I'm doing 24 arrangements like this. Check out the project at http://www.24standards.blogspot.com I Should Care is from the MGM film Thrill Of A Romance.
This is my arrangement of Sweet Lorraine by Cliff Burwell and Mitchell Parish. It's part of the 24 Standards Project, for which I'm arranging and recording 24 Standard American Songbook tunes. http://www.24standards.blogspot.com I've always liked this tune, but never played it. My favorite recording is probably by Hank Jones on the record Tip Toe Tap Dance.
A Sunday Smile by Beirut performed solo piano by Jesse Stacken. Recorded at The Clubhouse Studio in Rhinebeck, NY by Paul Antonell. When I first heard this song on Beirut's album The Flying Club Cup, it sounded old. It sounded like an old man from France or something. In a good way.
My arrangement of the song But Beautiful by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke. It's part of the 24 Standards Project. Check out the blog at http://www.24standards.blogspot.com Recorded at my home in Beacon NY with a Zoom H4N recorder and a FujiFilm X-T10. The piano is a Yamaha G3 built in 1985.
Blame It On My Youth by Oscar Levant and Edward Heyman. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 Standards Project. http://www.24standards.blogspot.com
Long Ago and Far Away be Jerome Kern and Ira Gershwin. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 Standards Project. I'm doing 24 arrangements. Check out the blog here: http://www.24standards.blogspot.com This song is originally from the film Cover Girl, starring Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly.
The Christmas Waltz by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 Standards Project. http://www.24standards.blogspot.com Merry Christmas from all of us over here at 24 Standards! This song was written for Frank Sinatra for his 1947 Christmas Album.
If I Loved You by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 Standards Project. http://www.24standards.blogspot.com I became familiar with this tune via the Frank Sinatra The Complete Recordings, The Columbia Years collection. It's really early Frank, when he sang with a lighter touch.
Jesse Stacken plays his arrangement of Peg O' My Heart by Alfred Bryan and Fred Fisher. I wrote all about it here: http://www.24standards.blogspot.com This is an old song! Goes back to 1913. Recordings by jazz musicians are rare. There is a Lester Young recording. The song sounds like it was made for him.
Jesse Stacken performs his arrangement of The Song Is You by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II. This is part of the 24 Standards Project. http://www.24standards.blogspot.com This is a song I've always loved, but has always kicked my butt. Probably because it's usually played fast. Fast tunes kick my butt.
Song by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 Standards Project: http://www.24standards.blogspot.com Before the 24 Standards Project began, I was fooling around with arranging a few tunes, one of them was Everything Happens To Me, which ended up being the first arrangement I published for the project.
Song by Hoagy Carmichael and Mitchell Parish. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken as part of the 24 Standards project. http://www.24standards.blogspot.com This is just a gorgeous song in every way. I've always liked it. One recording of it that I particularly enjoy is pianist Bill Charlap, with Shirley Horne on vocals.
This is not by Cindy Lauper. It's 40 years older than that. It's by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne. Arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken at his home in Beacon, NY. It's part of the 24 Standards project. For more info visit http://www.24standards.blogspot.com and https://jessestacken.bandcamp.com/releases
Ev'rytime We Say Goodbye by Cole Porter arranged and performed by Jesse Stacken in Beacon NY in October 2016. Part of the 24 Standards project: http://www.24standards.blogspot.com
